How to understand that the development of things is the unity of progress and twists?

Materialist dialectics believes that the development of things is the unity of the forward and the bend, and it is a process of wavy advance and spiral rise. Forward or upward is the basic direction and trend of irreversible development of things. Things form a development cycle after two negation and three stages. In the process of the development of things, every negation is the sublation of the old things, and it is bound to improve and advance constantly. Things advance and rise not in a straight line, but in twists and turns. In the process of development, the new thing will inevitably be resisted by the old thing, and zigzagging is the universal law of the development of things. If progressiveness and curvilinear nature are dissected, circularity or straight-line theory will result.

Briefly describe the unity of opposites and the movement of contradictions in content and form.

Everything is the unity of content and form. Content refers to all the elements that constitute things. Form refers to the structure that unifies the elements of the content or the way of expressing the content.

Content and form are two aspects of the existence and development of things. First of all, the form is the expression of things, content is the basis of things. There is therefore a definite difference between the two. Secondly, everything has content and form two sides, the two are interdependent and inseparable. At the same time, content and form transform each other. As the form of a certain content in one kind of relation, it can become the content of another kind in another kind of relation.

The unity of opposites between content and form constitutes their contradictory movement: first, content determines form, and form depends on content. What content there is, there is what kind of form to adapt to it. Second, the form positively affects the content and has a huge reaction to the content. Thirdly, the contradictory movement of content and form always develops from basic fit to unfit to new basic fit to such a mode.
