Try to describe the
difference between Marxist epistemology and the old philosophical epistemology.
The viewpoint of practice is the primary
basic viewpoint of Marxist epistemology. On
the basis of practice, Marxist epistemology adheres to the principle of
reflection theory and makes a clear distinction with idealism. The theory
of reflection is developed into a dynamic theory of reflection which overcomes
the limitation of mechanical materialism.
Dialectical materialism insists on the
theory of reflection, advocates that the content of cognition comes from the
objective world, and opposes the idealist empiricism.
The Marxist epistemology adheres to
the scientific knowability based on practice and
opposes all agnosticism.
Although the old materialism adhered
to the general principle of reflection, it left practice and regarded the
subject of knowledge as a biological being, and the subject-knower passively
and passively accepted external stimuli. The Marxist epistemology overcomes the
mechanism and intuitiveness of the old materialism and develops the theory of
reflection into a dynamic theory of reflection.
Why is the point of view
of practice the primary and fundamental point of view of Marxist epistemology?
According to Marxism, practice is the
basis of cognition and plays a decisive role in cognition.
First of all, practice is the source
of knowledge. The occurrence of knowledge cannot be separated from practice. If
people want to obtain true knowledge, they must participate in practice, gain
experience from practice, and then rise to theory.
Secondly, practice is the driving
force of cognitive development. It constantly creates new cognitive tools, puts
forward new questions, improves people's thinking ability, deepens the depth
and breadth of people's understanding of the world, and promotes the continuous
development of cognition.
Thirdly, practice is the ultimate goal
of cognition. Any scientific theory or knowledge, once separated from the
purpose of serving practice, will lose its meaning.
Finally, practice is the only
criterion for testing the truth of cognition.
From these aspects, we can see that
the practical point of view is the primary and basic point of Marxist
epistemology.
