How to understand the nature and functions of the state?

Marxism believes that the state is a historical category, and the state is an irreconcilable product of class contradictions. On the origin of the state, we should oppose historical idealism such as "divine right of Kings" and "social contract".

From the state class essence, the state is the economic dominant class to carry out the class rule of the violent tool. First of all, the state embodies the will of the ruling class and carries out dictatorship over the ruled class. Democracy is a class nature, and democracy is associated with dictatorship. Secondly, the main component of the state is the military and other violent tools, the state is essentially a violent tool to safeguard the interests of the ruling class.

The functions of the state are determined by the nature of the state. The internal functions of the state are: suppressing the resistance of the ruled class, adjusting class relations, maintaining social order and safeguarding the interests of the ruling class; To organize social economic and cultural construction and intervene in social life; To manage social public affairs and adjust social relations. The external functions of a state are: defense against foreign aggression and subversion, safeguard national sovereignty; To handle international relations or foreign affairs and safeguard the interests of one's own country.

In what aspects are the concrete forms of social consciousness mainly manifested?

Social consciousness is divided into political and legal thought, art, morality, religion, philosophy and other forms.

Political thought is the sum of opinions and theories about political system, country and class. Legal thought is the sum of viewpoints and theories about the relations, norms and facilities of law. Political and legal thought occupies the core position and plays the leading role in ideology.

Art grasps and reproduces social life according to aesthetic principles, and influences people's thoughts and feelings and social life through beauty.

Morality is the sum total of norms of conduct that regulate the relationship between people. Morality is maintained not by coercion, but by public opinion, belief, custom, tradition and education. Morality is historical, there is no eternal morality. Different classes have different moral standards.

Religion is the illusory and inverted reflection of the natural and social forces that rule people in people's minds, and it is the product of natural oppression and social oppression. Religion is essentially a "reversed world view", a "theory of the other world" and a "wisdom of the afterlife" divorced from the real world. Religion is also a cultural phenomenon. Religion will continue to exist under socialism. We must correctly implement the policy of religious freedom. Protect legitimate religion and oppose feudal superstition.

Philosophy is the theory and knowledge about the world outlook, is the unity of the world outlook, outlook on life and values. Philosophy provides the world view, methodology, values and outlook on life. True philosophy is the essence of the spirit of the age.

Various forms of social consciousness are interrelated, influence, permeate and complement each other.
