Briefly describe the relative independence of social consciousness.

Social consciousness is determined by social existence, but it has its relative independence. The relative independence of social consciousness means that social consciousness has a unique law of development, which is inconsistent or unbalanced with the development of social existence. Its relative independence is shown in:

First, the development of social consciousness and social existence is not completely synchronized. On the one hand, social consciousness lags behind social existence; On the other hand, some social consciousness (such as scientific prediction) is ahead of social existence.

Second, there is imbalance between social consciousness and social and economic development. The social consciousness of a more developed economy may not be advanced, and the social consciousness of a backward economy may not be backward.

Third, social consciousness has historical inheritance. Social consciousness inherits the ideological achievements of predecessors.

Fourth, various forms of social consciousness affect and interact with each other.

Fifth, social consciousness actively reacts on social existence. Advanced social consciousness promotes social development, while backward social consciousness hinders social development.

How to understand the decisive and selective, unity and diversity of the development of social forms?

Social form is the unity that points to the economic base and superstructure that adapt to the stage of productivity development. The development of social forms is both decisive and selective. Determinacy means that the development of social forms is a process with regularity and inevitability. Selectivity means that the development of social forms is often realized through certain historical selection activities, and presents some uncertainty or leap under certain conditions.

The determinacy and selectivity of the development of social forms are manifested through the unity and diversity of the development of social forms. On the one hand, the change of social form has unity.As far as the overall history of mankind is concerned, social forms have developed from low to high, from simple to complex, and are successively replaced according to the basic order of the five social forms. On the other hand, some nations and countries will "jump" over one or even several social forms and enter an advanced social form. This special phenomenon is still controlled by the movement of social basic contradiction and its law, and does not violate the general law of social development, and the unity of social development cannot be denied.
