Absolute spirit

"Absolute spirit" is the highest concept of Hegel's philosophy. Hegel called the essence of the unity of all things in the universe "the absolute", and believed that we should understand "the absolute" not only as the objective entity, but also as the subject, that is to say, it contains the factor of agency in itself. Hegel regards the creation of everything in the universe as the process of the absolute developing from potential to reality. In the cognitive activities of human spirit, the absolute reaches self-knowledge and thus becomes the absolute spirit.

Sublation

Sublation is an important term in Hegelian dialectic, meaning dialectical negation. Sublation consists of three steps: first, negation; second, the retention of valuable things in negation; third, the transition to a higher stage. Lenin summed it up as "the link" and "the development link".

The unity principle of thinking and existence

German classical philosopher Hegel regarded the relationship between thinking and being as the central problem of modern philosophy. Starting from the basic principle that "substance is subject", Hegel believes that thought is not only the entity of thought, but also the entity of existence, and this kind of thought is "objective thought". On this basis, Hegel demonstrated the identity of thought and existence.

First of all, "thinking" mainly refers to "objective thinking". "Being" refers to the most universal and abstract universal, that is, the essence of things. The identity of thought and being has two meanings: on the one hand, in the sense of ontology, it means that the thing is consistent with its own concept; On the other hand, in the epistemological sense, it means that our thoughts can grasp the essence that exists in things. For Hegel, the thought that grasps the essence of things is not only our subjective thought, but also the essence of things, which is called "objective thought". Thought, then, dominates everything and becomes the common ground of thought and existence.

Hegel believes that only thought can understand thought and only spirit can grasp spirit, so if thought grasps the essence of things, then the essence of things is thought, so he sticks to the objective idealism position on the most fundamental issue.

All reasonable is realistic, all realistic is reasonable

"Whatever is rational is realistic, and whatever is realistic is rational" is a famous philosophical proposition put forward by Hegel. According to him, reason is not merely subjective ideality, but the essence of things, and things, in the final analysis, must conform to their own essence, so that what conforms to reason must become reality. On the other hand, only what is really reasonable can become real, and therefore everything that is real is of course reasonable.
