The study adopted a quantitative method to collect data. Two multiple-choice questionnaires were distributed to students and teachers of the University of Khartoum. The Findings of the analysis have highlighted the central role that translation plays in fostering intercultural skills in French classroom. Students acknowledged that translation enables them to grasp the cultural nuances associated with the French language, which then facilitates their immersion in the target culture that is francophone culture. On the other hand, teachers said they frequently make use of translation by adopting a balanced approach, incorporating culturally-rich texts alongside linguistically-focused ones. They unanimously agreed on the significant impact of translation on students' cultural awareness and strongly recommended its increased integration within the French as a Foreign Language program. Furthermore, the cultural mediation theory was used to underpin the study. The latter enabled us to examine many relevant aspects, notably cultural awareness, cultural adaptation, intercultural thinking, intercultural communication, intercultural understanding as well as active learning. In conclusion, this study underscored the important role played by translation in strengthening the intercultural skills in French classroom at the University of Khartoum, which came in response to our research objective.
<CompanyAddress/><CompanyPhone/><CompanyFax/><CompanyEmail/></CoverPageProperties>
